ABP News Opinion Poll at 6 pm today

New Delhi: The Election Commission announced the assembly poll dates of 5 states on Friday. The apex body announced the schedule for the assembly elections that will be held in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. The terms of these states’ assemblies will come to an end in May and June.

In Assam, voting will take place in three phases on March 27, April 1, and April 6; in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, voting will take place in a single phase on April 6; while West Bengal will go to polls in eight phases on March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26 and April 29, respectively.

After EC declared the dates, politics has intensified across the country. WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee raised questions to EC on why the polls in her states are being conducted in 8 phases while other states will undergo only 1 phase. She also accused the Election Commission of choosing the poll dates according to BJP's convenience and called it a çonspiracy'. However, BJP refuted the claims and said that if EC actually favoured BJP then they would have to cancel PM Modi and Amit Shah's visit to Bengal due to the moral code of conduct.
