ABP E-Shikhar Sammelan: Modi Govt Failed In Rolling Out Effective Lockdown, Says Gourav Vallabh

Responding to the questions raised over Modi government's initiatives taken for the lower middle class over the past six years and during the corona crisis, BJP leader said that Modi government's first year of their second term in the country has been the 'year of trust'.

New Delhi: Congress leader Gourav Vallabh has attack Prime Minister Narenda Modi and his NDA government, accusing of not controlling the Covid-19 pandemic and failing at implementing an effective lockdown to curb the spread of the disease. While speaking at ABP News' flagship event e-Shikhar Sammelan with news anchor Romana Khan and Bharatiya Janata Party's leader Sudhanshu Trivedi, Professor Vallabh said "Modi government failed to properly implement the Covid-19 lockdown in the nation, due to which a lot of pain and suffering was caused to migrant workers, labourers and financially weaker sections." Over the past two months, India is on its toes in fighting battle against novel Coronavirus which has infected over 1,65,000 people and claimed over 4,000 deaths. Though the crisis paralyzed the entire system, labourers appeared to be the worst-hit section. Responding to the questions raised over Modi government's initiatives taken for the lower middle class over the past six years and during the corona crisis, BJP leader said that Modi government's first year of their second term in the country has been the 'year of trust'. "After former PM Jawaharlal Nehru, Narendra Modi has been the only Prime Minister who has not only laid trust among Indian citizens but also stood upon their expectations. From decisions over article 370 to pensions for the elderly citizens, to Triple Talaq and Ram Janam Bhoomi, Modi government has taken master moves for the betterment of the whole society and has won the trust of Indian citizens," Trivedi said. However, the opposition leader lashed out at Trivedi saying that trust was rather broken when scams in PPE kits came to light. Referring to the health scam in Himachal Pradesh, Congress leader blamed state BJP government of being involved in corruption and the reason for state BJP chief for resigning from the post. Professor Vallabh further questioned the ruling party over "enforcing lockdown on a notice of four hours", without thinking over the plights of society's weakerr sections such a migrant workers. To this, BJP's Sudhanshu Trivedi said that since January when the contagious Coronavirus first appeared, WHO had mentioned of 'transmission through animal, not human'. "As soon as WHO declared it to be health emergency, our government took no time in getting into action. From developing ventilators to PPE kits, we have left no stones turned." Backfiring at congress, Trivedi further said that Congress is playing politics over the miseries of migrant workers.  However, Professor replied by hailing Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan Congress-led state governments which handed relief amounts to migrants. He added that thee states have recorded no or minimal fatality rate.
