'Sought Appointment 11 Times': Sanjay Singh Says ED Was Not Willing To Take Complaint On Adani Row

Sanjay Singh said his team was able to submit the complaint to ED on the Adani row after 'great difficulty'.

Intensifying the demand for a probe into the Adani row, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday said the ED was not willing to take his complaint on the matter and denied him appointment 11 times.

"Raiding squadron ED is not free to take the complaint on Adani Mega Scam. I sought an appointment 11 times. Finally, with great difficulty my team was able to submit the complaint to ED on the matter," Singh tweeted.

The stocks of Adani Group have taken a beating since US short-seller Hindenburg Research accused it of stock manipulation and accounting fraud. The Adani Group has denied any wrongdoing and has threatened to sue Hindenburg.

In March, leaders of 16 Opposition parties wrote a letter to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) asking the agency to initiate an investigation into the Adani Group over allegations of corrupt practices, including money laundering through shell companies.

In a letter emailed to the ED Director SK Mishra, the parties told the probe agency that "it cannot turn around and abdicate its jurisdiction". The letter was signed by leaders of the Congress, CPI, CPI-M, JDU, SS (UBT), RJD, DMK, JMM, AAP, IUML, VCK, Kerala Congress and others.

On Wednesday, Singh accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with "torturing people" to force them to implicate AAP leaders in the alleged liquor scam.

The AAP MP said he would raise the issue before the privilege committee of Parliament.

Senior AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has been arrested by the ED on money laundering charges related to the Delhi liquor policy case.

Addressing a press conference, Singh alleged a person named Chandan Reddy was "beaten black and blue" by ED officials to obtain a false statement during interrogation, and he now fears he might suffer a hearing loss, PTI reported.

"Chandan has moved the (Telangana) High Court complaining against the ED," Singh said, showing purported copies of Reddy's medical certificate.

"These documents prove that the ED makes false cases under political pressure, defames governments and levels false allegations...There is no liquor scam," he further said.
