Bring Back Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Golden Throne From UK, AAP MP Raghav Chadha Urges Centre

While speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Chadha highlighted the significance of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's life and rule, underscoring his gallantry, state policies, and humanity.

Parliament Monsoon Session: AamAadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha on Wednesday raised the demand to bring back the golden throne of Maharaja Rajit Singh from the United Kingdom.

The Rajya Sabha MP urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government to bring back the throne to India to reclaim the country's rich cultural heritage. The throne is currently kept at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. It has been on display in the UK for centuries.

While speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Chadha highlighted the significance of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's life and rule, underscoring his gallantry, state policies, and humanity. The AAP MO requested the government to make use of diplomatic relations with the UK to retrieve the throne, inspiring future generations with the king's remarkable story.

"I demand that the government of India should speak to the UK government by using its diplomatic relations and make an effort to bring back that throne to India. That throne should come back to our country. We get inspiration from the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh," the AAP MP said.

"Today in Parliament, I demanded the repatriation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji’s royal throne currently placed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. I urged the Govt of India to press into service its diplomatic relations with United Kingdom for the same. His legendary rule united Punjab, promoted secular values, justice, equality, cultural heritage and good governance," Chadha said in a post on X.

"I also demanded that we incorporate the incredible legacy and contributions of Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji to our history, in our school textbooks so that students can learn about his journey and good governance," he further stated.
