AAP Nirbhar Or Aatmanirbhar: Amit Shah Asks Delhi To Make The Choice In MCD Polls
Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked the Arvind Kejriwal-led government as he alleged that it was spending extensively on publicity.
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said the Arvind Kejriwal-ledwants the national capital to be 'AAP Nirbhar' while the BJP wanted it to be Atmanirbhar, as he urged the people to choose between BJP and AAP in the MCD election. At the inaugural of a waste-to-energy (WTE) plant in Tehkhand, Shah also alleged that the Kejriwal administration had treated the erstwhile three civic bodies like stepmothers and that it owed the municipal corporations Rs 40,000 crore.
Amit Shah at the event organised in South Delhi said: "They (Kejriwal-led party) want Delhi to be AAP Nirbhar. We want it to become Atmanirbhar. In the next Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls, people will have to decide if they want to be AAP Nirbhar or Atmanirbhar," news agency PTI reported.
CM Arvind Kejriwal believes that advertisements bring development and that the AAP government had been spending extensively on publicity, the senior BJP leader remarked. He emphasised that "this illusion can last only for five to seven years."

Shah further added: "People will have to choose between 'Vigyapan ki Rajniti' (politics of advertisement) and 'Vikas ki Rajniti' (politics of development)."
The final barrier for holding the civic body election has been removed with the conclusion of the delimitation procedure to change wards under MCD borders with the Centre's approval for the final draft.
The MCD polls were called off when in March, the Centre declared that the city's three civic bodies would be united. In May, a unified MCD was established.
Now that the delimitation procedure has been completed, the administration will urge the state election commission to begin the process of announcing the election dates. According to reports, the MCD election might take place towards the conclusion of this year or at the beginning of 2023.
