62, Including 15 Foreign, Terrorists Killed In Encounters This Year: IGP Kashmir

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said among the total 62 killed terrorists, 47 were local terrorists and 15 foreign terrorists.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said 62 terrorists have been killed in encounters so far this year.

39 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists and 15 belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) were among those killed.

“Total terrorists killed in encounters so far this year= 62 Terror Outfit wise: LeT = 39, JeM=15, HM =06, Al-Badr =02. Among the total 62 killed terrorists, 47 were local terrorists & 15 foreign terrorists: IGP Kashmir @JmuKmrPolice,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

Earlier, two Al-Badr militants were killed in an overnight encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation based on the information about the presence of militants there.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding militants fired upon the security forces.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said the two terrorists identified as Aijaz Hafiz and Shahid Ayub had been involved in series of attacks on outside labourers in Pulwama in the month of March-April this year.

The police also recovered two AK 47 rifles from the slain terrorists.

 “PulwamaEncounterUpdate:  Both killed terrorists identified as local terrorists namely Aijaz Hafiz & Shahid Ayub, of Al-Badr outfit. 02 AK rifles recovered. They had been involved in series of attacks on outside labourers in Pulwama in the month of March-April 2022: IGP Kashmir,” Kashmir Zone Police wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
