6 BSP MLAs Join Congress In Rajasthan; Mayawati says 'Can't Trust Congress Anymore'

The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has 200 seats. The Congress had won 100 seats in the in last Assembly elections.

Jaipur: In a big jolt to Mayawati's Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) in Rajasthan, all of its six MLAs have joined the Congress. With this merger, the Congress now has 106 seats in the Assembly. Seething with anger over the drifting of her MLAs, Mayawati alleged that the Congress is a “non-trustworthy” party and always harms those parties that support it. "The Congress Party by breaking BSP MLAs in Rajasthan has yet again proved to be a non-trustworthy and fraudulent party. This is betraying the BSP movement for the second time and comes at a time when BSP has given unconditional, outside support to the Congress government there," the BSP supremo tweeted." "Instead of fighting its bitter rivals, the Congress always tries to harm those parties which support them. The Congress is thus an anti-SC, ST, OBC party and has never been sincere and honest about the right to reservation of these classes," her another tweet read. Further, she said that the Congress was poaching her legislators as has always been against Babasaheb Ambedkar's ideology. " The Congress has always been opposed to Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and his humanitarian ideology. For this reason, Dr. Ambedkar had to resign as the first law minister of the country. The Congress neither allowed him to go to the Lok Sabha nor conferred with Bharat Ratna. It is very sad and embarrassing," While reacting to the development that took place on Monday night, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Satish Punia said: "This development shows Ashok Gehlot's insecurity. Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot has questioned him on the law and order situation." The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has 200 seats. The Congress had won 100 seats in the in last Assembly elections. Before this, the party was enjoying the support of a lone Rashtriya Lok Dal MLA, six BSP MLAs, and 12 Independents, giving it the majority to run the government.
