J&K: 2 Terrorists Gunned Down By Security Forces In Shopian; 24 Eliminated In 2 weeks

The encounter is still underway at the Sugoo area of the Shopian district. This is the third operation within the past 72 hours.

New Delhi: Two unidentified terrorists have been killed in the encounter in Sugoo area of Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. the gunbattle between the security forces and the terrorists is still underway. The encounter began around 1.30 am when Army Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) began operation on specific input about the presence of militants in the village. This is the third encounter in the Shopian district since Sunday. On Monday, the security forces neutralized four terrorists belonging to terror outfits- Hizbul Mujahideen in a joint operation. Earlier, on Sunday, five terrorists of the same outfit were killed in yet another operation in the Reban area of Shopian. "9 terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen have been killed in operations that were carried out yesterday and today. In the last 2 weeks, 9 big operations were carried out in which 22 terrorists have been eliminated including six top commanders," Jammu and Kashmir DGP, Dilbag Singh said on Tuesday.
