New Delhi: Outbreak of extreme heat is likely to increase in nine districts of Madhya Pradesh for the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Serious heatwave conditions prevailed in Narmadapuram, with mercury ascending to 43 degrees Celsius, the highest maximum temperature in Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday, senior meteorologist PK Saha of IMD Bhopal said.
Similar circumstances were seen in Rajgarh, Dhar, Ratlam, and Khargone districts during the day, he said.
The heatwave condition is probably to prevail at a few places in Narmadapuram, Ratlam, Shajapur, Khargone, Dhar, Khandwa, Damoh, Chhattarpur and Rajgarh locale, for the following two days, the authority said.
The maximum temperature reached 39 degrees Celsius, 4 degrees better than average, while the minimum temperature floated at 18 degrees Celsius, which was ordinary, in Bhopal, he said.
The maximum and minimum temperatures were 38.4 degrees Celsius, three better than average, and 22.6 degrees Celsius, five better than average, separately in Indore, Saha said.
The maximum and minimum temperatures were at 37.9 degrees Celsius and 20.8 degrees Celsius separately in Jabalpur, while in Gwalior, they were at 37 degrees Celsius and 17.9 degrees Celsius individually, he added.
Referring to the reason for the atmospheric condition, Saha said that the dry westerly breezes from adjoining Rajasthan were blowing into the central state.
The westerlies will yield on Friday and could move the temperatures somewhere near only a couple of degrees, he added.
Heatwave conditions persist in parts of Rajasthan
Heatwave conditions persevered in certain parts of Rajasthan on Thursday with Barmer recording the highest maximum temperature in the state at 43.4 degrees Celsius, as per the meteorological department.
Phalodi (Jodhpur) recorded a high of 43 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer 42.7 degrees Celsius, Bikaner 41.9 degrees Celsius, Jodhpur 41.6 degrees Celsius and Vanasthali 41.2 degrees Celsius, the climate division said.
Churu and Pilani recorded the maximum temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius, it said.
The weather conditions will continue as same during the next 24 hours. A slight reprieve from heatwave conditions is normal on March 19, the MeT department said.
