Hyundai Tucson launch in India confirmed for October 2016

New Delhi: Following the launch of the sixth generation Elantra this week, Hyundai will add the much-awaited Tucson to its SUV line-up in October 2016 with a grand launch. The third generation Tucson was first displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year. With its price, the Tucson will be placed between the Creta and the Santa Fe. In terms of price, it will also be close to the Elantra. This price is achieved by virtue of bringing the Tucson into India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route. Hyundai will also use 50 percent local components to make it more Indian and also to keep it priced between Rs. 16-19 lakh. The third generation Hyundai Tucson will be built on the Fluidic 2.0 design language of the Hyundai, which will look much different from the first generation Tucson. With a bold hexagonal front-grille, the projector headlamps are sweptback with LED daytime running lights on headlamps and foglamps, besides LED tail lights. The tailgate is electrically operated while there is a panoramic sunroof on the top. Touchscreen infotainment with navigation, auto climate control, steering-mounted remote controls, etc. adorn the interiors. The new third generation Hyundai Tucson SUV will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine, mated to optional manual and automatic gearboxes. The All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option, sold internationally, will also likely be offered in India. Upon launch, the main rival to the Hyundai Tucson will be the Honda CR-V along with the Skoda Yeti.
