How Adani Group Is Helping Kerala NGO Meet Medical Needs Of Orphans, Senior Citizens

Started by some philanthropists, Punarjani is registered as a charitable organisation, with an aim to support and assist orphans, old-age citizens and the destitute in the age group of 22 to 70.

A part of the population in the country comprises young, abandoned children, middle-aged homeless people and elderlies, who are uncared for. Punarjani, an NGO in Trivandrum district in Kerala, has been providing care and psychological support to the needy ones, thereby, showing the world is not devoid of empathy just yet.

Started by some philanthropists in the area, Punarjani is registered as a charitable organisation, with an aim to support and assist orphans, old-age citizens and the destitute in the age group of 22 to 70.

The organisation has its headquarters in Balaramapuram panchayat and currently has three centres at different locations with 100 inmates in total. They are being provided with shelter, food and facilities.

The centre is run on donations from philanthropists in the locality.

However, these donations are not enough to meet the medical expenses as there are several inmates suffering from various ailments and their medical needs are humungous.

It was difficult to take care of everyone’s requirements with the existing resources and that is when the Adani Foundation came into the picture.

“They took note of the situation and provided medical support to all the needy inmates twice a month. The team also conducts two monthly medical camps and provides other medical support. They ensure continuous follow-up and medical care for all the people. This has eased the burden on the organisation as the staff found it difficult to take elderly sick patients to hospitals,” said Rajan, manager, Punarjani.

Expressing gratitude to the Adani Foundation, the team at Punarjani hopes for continuous support from them and look forward to a continued association.
