In her first address as a Congress leader, she delivered a thundering speech and urged the people to question the ruling BJP-led NDA dispensation on the promises it made during previous Lok Sabha polls and to use the "weapon" of vote for their empowerment in the upcoming general elections. She said she is saddened by what is happening in the country. "This country is made on the foundations of love, harmony and brotherhood. Today whatever is happening in the country is very sad.”“I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.”
