Hijab Row Erupts In Vijayawada As Loyola College Management Denies Students' Entry

Muslim elders who knew the incident approached the college and held talks with the management.

Hyderabad: The ongoing hijab issue has been slowly spreading wings and now it has reached Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. At Loyola College, the hijab issue has erupted on Thursday. Students claimed that the college administration has barred them from attending classes because they wore hijab.

Massive demonstrations erupted in Karnataka in January this year when several students at the Government PU College in the Udupi district claimed they were denied admission because they wore a headscarf.

Meanwhile, at Loyola College students claimed that the college administration had barred them from attending classes because they wore hijab. They said that the photo on the ID card was also taken with the hijab and that they had been attending college in a burqa since the first year.

Muslim elders who knew the incident approached the college and held talks with the management. On the other hand, the parents of the students reached the college and expressed their concern. The police arrived after getting the information and spoke with the students and college administration.

The management finally allowed the students into the classroom as the dispute with the Muslim elders was later settled. The principal told the media that they allowed students into the classes.
