Telangana: Actor Nagarjuna Adopts 1,000 Acres Of Land To Set Up Urban Forest In Hyderabad
Nagarjuna said the park would be of great use to the urban colony residents surrounding this forest area.
Hyderabad: Actor Nagarjuna adopted 1,080 acres of forest land in Chengicherla, Telangana's Medchal district.
He came up with the idea of setting up an urban forest park in the forest block of Chengicharla, a suburb of Hyderabad, named after his father, the late renowned actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
Nagarjuna and his family participated in the stone laying ceremony at Chengicharla along with MP Joginapalli Santosh Kumar. Nagarjuna handed over a check of Rs 2 crore to Chief Minister's Green Fund to develop the forest park.
He said that MP Santosh Kumar launched the Green India Challenge with the spirit of greenery for Telangana to make our surroundings, the state is environmentally friendly. Nagarjuna said he participated in the event and planted saplings many times.
Nagarjuna said he had discussed forest adoption with Minister Santosh during the final event of the last Bigg Boss season and was now happy to lay the foundation stone for the forest restoration and establishment of an urban forest park as announced on the stage that day.
He said the park would be of great use to the urban colony residents surrounding this forest area.

MP Santosh Kumar lauded Nagarjuna for forest adoption through the Green India Challenge program. The MP said that along with developing an urban park named after the late Akkineni Nageswara Rao in the Chengicharla forest block, a program of planting lakh saplings in vacant plots had been started from Thursday.
Santosh said Hyderabad city has natural amenities. The Green India Challenge would do its part to conserve and restore more than 1.5 lakh acres of forest land around the capital to set up urban parks. He said that celebrities, entrepreneurs, and organizations are invited to come forward as a social responsibility for this purpose.
