LG launches K-series 'Made in India' smartphones
New Delhi: LG Electronics India Ltd. on Thursday launched K7 and K10 -- the first smartphones the company will be making in India. While K7 is priced at Rs.9,500, K10 will cost Rs.13,500 in India.
"The Indian digital ecosystem will be a $1 trillion economy in the next five years with $400 billion contribution from smartphones and electronics manufacturing, 350 billion from IT and ITES-enabled services and $250 billion from communications services," union Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said at the launch event here.
"LG is a large global brand name and we are very excited that they have chosen to manufacture mobile handsets from India. With LG smartphones, consumers will have access to governance, information and knowledge in the hands," Prasad added.
The K-Series smartphones will be the first to offer LG's glossy pebble design, a contemporary look with a curved finish aimed at younger audience.
The glossy pebble design is complemented by LG's new 2.5D Arc Glass for a seamless style that could only be made possible due to the sides of K-series smartphones being free of button clutter.
The devices are designed keeping in mind multimedia creation and consumption with a larger screen to display images and videos captured with the most advanced camera - 13MP on the rear and 8MP on the front in the case of K10. The K7 device has 5MP rear and 5 MP front camera.
The devices feature LG's popular Gesture Shot and Gesture Interval Shot features that make taking selfies easy and hassle-free.
Gesture Shot enables users to take photos simply by raising an open hand in front of the lens and then clenching it into a fist.
Closing one's hand twice automatically leads to the Gesture Interval Shot and will produce four consecutive photos.
Both devices are equipped with "Flash for Selfie" in the front to help users capture photos even in the dark.
