Ducati Scrambler 1100 India Launch On 27 August

The Scrambler 1100 gets more electronics compared to its younger brother

Ducati India, through its social media channels, has announced that it will be launching the Scrambler 1100 on 27 August. The bike is offered in three variants overseas – Standard, Sport and the top-of-the-line Special –, but we expect Ducati to launch the base variant of the Scrambler 1100 in India first. A couple of dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the bike for a token amount of Rs 1-2 lakh, and according to them, the bike will be priced around the Rs 11 lakh mark (ex-showroom) for the standard model.

In terms of design, not much has changed apart from a couple of additions, which comprise of twin exhausts placed on either sides of the seat and a redesigned headlight. The Italian manufacturer has also equipped the Scrambler 1100 with features like cornering ABS, four-levels of tractions control, ABS, and ride-by-wire. The bike even gets an updated instrument console, which in essence, gets a second pod to accommodate additional readouts from the new electronics.

Powering the Scrambler is a massive 1,079cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled, L-twin motor which produces 87PS of power at 7500rpm and 88Nm of torque at 4750rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. To tame this power, the bike also gets three riding modes – City, Journey and Active.

Under the skin, the bike employs a tubular steel trellis frame with fully adjustable 45mm upside-down Marzocchi forks up front and a Kayaba monoshock at the rear with preload and rebound adjustability. The bike comes to a halt using twin-disc brakes coupled with four-piston Brembo M4.32 calipers at the front and a single 245mm disc brake at the rear.

Being the only 1100cc Scrambler in India, the bike doesn’t have any direct competition. However, some other alternatives in the segment include the Triumph Street Scrambler which is priced at Rs 8.6 lakh and the BMW R nineT Scrambler which retails for Rs 15.55 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
