According to the PTI sources, Fadnavis was joined by BJP MP and senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani in the meeting with the home minister.
Fadnavis's meeting with top BJP leaders comes at a time when rebel leader Shinde claimed that he has 50 MLAs with him in Guwahati and has come here voluntarily and to take forward the politics of "Hindutva".
Fadnavis and Jethmalani are believed to have discussed the options and legal aspects of government formation with Shah along with rebel Shiv Sena MLAs and some independents.
After meeting Shah, Fadnavis met party president Nadda at his residence and also discussed the political developments in the state with him.
The Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra is facing a crisis as several of its MLAs, led by Eknath Shinde, have rebelled and are currently camping in Guwahati.
