Maharashtra Political Crisis: Fadnavis was accompanied by BJP leaders Chandrakant Patil, Ashish Shelar, Pravin Darekar, Girish Mahajan and Shrikant Bharatiya.

New Delhi: Amid the escalating political crisis in Maharashtra, the leader of Opposition in the state Assembly and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan around 10 pm, as reported by news agency ANI. Fadnavis was accompanied by BJP leaders Chandrakant Patil, Ashish Shelar, Pravin Darekar, Girish Mahajan and Shrikant Bharatiya. "We've given a letter to Maharashtra Gov & told him that the 39 Shiv Sena MLAs are saying that they don't want to be with NCP, Cong govt; it shows MVA govt has lost the majority. We've requested Gov to direct CM to immediately prove his majority through Floor test," said BJP leader in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Raj Bhawan said in a statement, "A letter in circulation on social media about Maharashtra Governor asking for a floor test in the Legislative Assembly on 30th June is fake."

Earlier today, Fadnavis also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda.

Fadnavis is understood to have apprised the two leaders of the political developments in Maharashtra and discussed various aspects related to the party's future strategy in the state.

According to the PTI sources, Fadnavis was joined by BJP MP and senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani in the meeting with the home minister.

Fadnavis's meeting with top BJP leaders comes at a time when rebel leader Shinde claimed that he has 50 MLAs with him in Guwahati and has come here voluntarily and to take forward the politics of "Hindutva".

Fadnavis and Jethmalani are believed to have discussed the options and legal aspects of government formation with Shah along with rebel Shiv Sena MLAs and some independents.

After meeting Shah, Fadnavis met party president Nadda at his residence and also discussed the political developments in the state with him.

The Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra is facing a crisis as several of its MLAs, led by Eknath Shinde, have rebelled and are currently camping in Guwahati.
