Delhi: Consumers Will Now Have To Opt For Electricity Subsidy, Announces CM Kejriwal

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that people will now have to opt for subsidy on their electricity bills for which online and offline methods will be made available for the same. At a press conference here today, the Chief Minister said that power consumers can give a missed call on 7011311111 to opt for the subsidy from today.
Informing about the decision, Kejriwal said that there were many people who wanted to give up their power subsidy in the city. Those who want to avail the subsidy will get a form to apply, he added.
They can also give a missed call on 7011311111 whereby they will get a form on WhatsApp to apply for subsidy. Those applying for subsidy till October 31 will be paid subsidy of the month. Every month people can apply for subsidies, he added.

The CM also said that this exercise will be repeated every year for people who want to give up their subsidies.
There are 58 lakh domestic consumers of power in the national capital out of whom 47 lakh subscribers receive subsidy with 30 lakh households getting free electricity bill while around 16 lakh subscriber get electricity bills at half rate, said Kejriwal.
During the press conference when asked about Goa Congress MLAs switching sides to Bharatiya Janata Party, the Aam Aadmi Party national convener alleged that the saffron party is working on “Operation Lotus” adding that “they are buying legislators in every state.”

He accused the BJP of offering Rupees 20-25 lakhs crore each to his party MLAs in Punjab in an attempt to topple the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government.
Responding to Kejriwal’s accusation, the Punjab unit of the BJP dubbed the allegations as “baseless” and “bundle of lies” and said that the AAP is trying to divert attention of people from its “failures”.
