Covid Vaccination Drive, Phase 2: How To Register Yourself To Get Coronavirus Jabs From Monday - All You Need To Know

COVID-19 Vaccination Drive Phase 2 in India: The second phase of vaccination drive will allow those above 60 years and those above 45 with comorbidities to get vaccinated at several government facilities and private hospitals.

New Delhi: As the Central government on Wednesday announced that the second phase of the Coronavirus vaccination drive will begin from March 1 across the country, those above 45 years and with comorbidities will also be able to get inoculated during this period. As per a recent announcement by the Centre, people over 60 years and those above 45 with comorbidities can get Covid-19 vaccine from March 1.

The decision to begin the second phase of the world's largest Coronavirus vaccination was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi where it was decided that the Covid-19 jabs would be available for free at government facilities and will be chargeable at private hospitals.

With India witnessing yet another surge in a daily number of Coronavirus cases, the Centre has also rushed multi-disciplinary teams to as many as nine states and the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir most of whom are witnessing a significant spurt. 

With Phase 2 inoculation drive all set to begin from Monday, let's take a look at how to get Coronavirus vaccine: 

The second phase of the vaccination drive will allow those above 60 years and those above 45 with comorbidities to get vaccinated at several government facilities and private hospitals. As vaccination will now be available for the general public, beneficiaries will have to register themselves and submit valid ID proof for inoculation.

Documents Needed For Registration:

During getting yourself registered for vaccination, documents such as an Aadhaar card, driving licence, voter ID, PAN card, passport, job card or pension document can be submitted. Beneficiaries can also submit Health Insurance Smart Card, MGNREGA card, official IDs issued by MPs, MLAs or MLCs.

How To Get Registered?

As per a notification issued by the government earlier, people can registration themselves of the Co-Win app for Covid-19 vaccination. Once the registration is complete, an eligible person would receive an SMS on their mobile number regarding the due date, venue and time of vaccination.

Phase 2 Vaccination Centre:

Earlier in the day, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar informed that vaccination will be given vaccines in 10,000 government medical facilities and also over 20,000 private hospitals across the country.

Cost Of Covid-19 Vaccine:

Whoever goes to the government centre will be administered the vaccine free of cost. The Indian government will pay for them. The government will purchase the necessary doses and will send them to all the states. Javadekar also said that those who want to get the vaccination from private hospitals will have to pay a certain amount. However, he pointed out that the cost of vaccine in private hospitals will be decided by the Health Ministry within the next three-four days as they are in discussions with manufacturers as well as hospitals.
