Confirmed: 2018 Maruti Ciaz Facelift Launch On 6 August

The 2018 Ciaz will get a new petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech

Pre-facelift Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki was all set to launch the 2018 Ciaz facelift on 6 August 2018 but has now delayed the launch to end of August now. Some Nexa dealers have already started accepting bookings for the updated model. Earlier, the Ciaz facelift was scheduled to start reaching showrooms for display from 10 August 2018 onwards and deliveries were expected to start from the third week of the same month. But expect a slight delay in the above timeline now.

The 2018 Ciaz has been spied previously revealing cosmetic changes which include a new set of bumpers and an update to the headlamp, and tail lamp design. It will also be equipped with cruise control, a feature that is not available on the outgoing Ciaz. We expect the updated model to get LED headlamps too. It’s unlikely that a sunroof will be a part of the 2018 Ciaz’ features list. There will not be any change in the dashboard layout, but the wooden trim will sport a lighter shade on the facelift.

The Ciaz facelift will get a new 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that was first introduced on the second-gen Ertiga and later on the fourth-gen Jimny. This engine makes a maximum power of 105PS under the Indonesia-spec second-gen Ertiga’s hood. To put things into perspective, the outgoing 1.4-litre petrol engine makes 92PS of maximum power on the current Ciaz. On the India-spec Ciaz facelift, this 1.5-litre engine will be paired with SHVS mild-hybrid tech, so we can expect it to boast segment-leading ARAI fuel efficiency figures. The petrol engine will come with both manual and automatic transmission options.

The 1.3-litre diesel engine of the Ciaz will remain unchanged. It makes a maximum power of 90PS and peak torque of 200Nm. This engine already comes paired with SHVS tech.

Prices for the pre-facelift Ciaz start from Rs 7.83 lakh and go up to Rs 11.51 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). We expect the Ciaz facelift to be slightly more expensive than the outgoing model. Some Nexa dealerships still have the pre-facelift Ciaz in stock which attracts a cash discount of Rs 40,000, exchange bonus of around Rs 50,000 and corporate discount of Rs 10,000.
