Bengaluru Violence: CM Yediyurappa Says 'Won't Tolerate Provocations' While Congress Leader Appeals For Peace
Bengaluru Violence: Political leaders have reacted against the violence that erupted in Bengaluru. Chief Minister of Karnataka B. S. Yediyurappa as said that the ‘government will not tolerate such provocations and rumours’.
Bengaluru Violence: After a massive violence broke out in Bengaluru, Karnataka over an objectionable Facebook post on Prophet Muhammad, the Chief Minister of Karnataka B. S. Yediyurappa has said that the ‘government will not tolerate such provocations and rumours’. He also said that the government has taken steps to control the situation. ‘Directives issued against perpetrators and govt has taken all possible steps to curb the situation. Attack on journalists, Police and public is unacceptable. Govt won't tolerate such provocations and rumours. Strict action against perpetrators is certain,” said Yediyurappa to ANI. The state Congress Chief DK Shivakumar condemned the violence and appealed for peace. It was the social media post of Naveen the nephew of a Congress MLA Srinivas Murthy that incited the violence. 'I strongly condemn the incident and our party also condemns whatever happened last night. It happened due to a person's post on social media. At this point, it is important to maintain peace," said Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar.Directives issued against perpetrators and govt has taken all possible steps to curb the situation. Meanwhile, according to information by ANI, BJP leader CT Ravi has alleged that the attacks were planned. He has said that the speed with which people gathered after the social media post makes it seem as if it was an organised incident.I condemn the violence that has happened in Bengaluru. No one must take law into their own hands.

So far, 110 people have been arrested in connection with the violence that broke out in Bengaluru over an alleged inciting social media post said Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Bengaluru said. The accused Naveen has also been arrested for sharing derogatory posts on social media. Police have also imposed Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the city to prohibit the assembly of four or more persons in an area, while curfew has been imposed in DJ Halli and KG Halli police station limits.
