Former CM and Congress leader Siddaramaiah tweeted, "I condemn both violent incident that erupted in Kaval Byrsandra & also the social media post that instigated the mob. I humbly request both Hindus & Muslims of the area to stay calm, maintain peace & live in harmony. Our experience tells us that only innocents suffer in the communal riots. I urge leaders from both the religion to discuss and resolve the issue amicably & restore peace in the area."

Chamrajpet MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan was rushed to pacify the protesters outside the police station. The incident comes on a day when Janmashtami celebrations are ongoing in the garden city and other parts of the country. In PIC: The house of Congress MLA R Akhanda Srinivas set ablaze.

Atleast three people were killed after police opened fire to quell a mob that went on a rampage. Scores of persons, including around 50 policemen, were injured in the violence. One of the victims has been identified as Yasin Pasha. The victim's father Afzal told reporters that his son was 'innocent.' A mob rampaged through Bengaluru's Pulakeshi Nagar Tuesday night and vandalised a police station and a Congress legislator Akhanda Shrinivasa Murthy residence after an alleged relative of the MLA shared a social media post purportedly on a communal issue. The incident took place at Kaval Byrasandra in Bengaluru, outside Pulkeshinagar Congress MLA R Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s house. Later hundreds more gathered and marched to DJ Halli police station, setting vehicles outside the police station on fire, and chanting slogans demanding an FIR and immediate arrest of Murthy's relative.
