Supreme Court To Hear Eknath Shinde's Plea Challenging Disqualification Notices

Amid the intensifying political crisis in Maharashtra, Rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde has moved the Supreme Court against the disqualification notice. The Shinde faction has demanded the Supreme Court to stop the disqualification proceedings against the MLAs by the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.

The Shinde faction has also challenged the appointment of Ajay Chaudhary as the leader of the legislature party. Similarly, the appointment of Sunil Prabhu as Chief Whip has also been challenged.

Earlier, it was reported that the party is gearing up for a legal battle to deal with the crisis as the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, led by Eknath Shinde, who have been camping at a Guwahati hotel for the last five days, do not soften their stand. A Shiv Sena MP said this on Sunday.

President Poll: Yashwant Sinha To File Nomination

Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha, the candidate of opposition parties for the post of President, will file his nomination. NCP Chief Sharad Pawar gave this information after the meeting in Delhi. Sinha will file his nomination as a presidential candidate on June 27 at 11.30 am.

Earlier, 13 opposition parties including Congress, TMC, NCP and Samajwadi Party agreed on Sinha's name after meeting in Delhi on Tuesday and chose him as their candidate for the post of President. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, while reading out the statement of the joint opposition, said, "Ideally, there should be a consensus candidate. We regret the fact that the Modi Government made no serious efforts in this direction. We appeal to all political parties to support Yashwant Sinha so that India could have a worthy President."
