Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter handle was “very briefly compromised”, Prime Minister's Office (PMO) informed on Sunday.

The account was secured later after the matter was escalated to the micro-blogging site.

“The Twitter handle of PM @narendramodi was very briefly compromised. The matter was escalated to Twitter and the account has been immediately secured. In the brief period that the account was compromised, any Tweet shared must be ignored,” PMO India wrote.

As the account was restored, the malicious tweets were also deleted.

PM Modi has more than 73.4 million followers on the micro-blogging site.

After PM Modi’s account was compromised, #Hacked was seen trending on Twitter India.

Screenshots shared on Twitter by several users show that tweets were put out from PM Modi's account claiming “India has officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender”.

“India has officially adopted bitcoin as legal tender. The government has officially bought 500 BTC and is distributing them to all residents of the country,” read the now-deleted tweet.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address the event on ‘Depositors First: Guaranteed Time-bound Deposit Insurance Payment up to Rs 5 Lakh’ on Sunday at noon in Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi.

An official statement by the Prime Minister's Office informed that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MoS Finance, and RBI Governor will also be present on the occasion.

In another important development, the CBI on Saturday said it recorded statements of 7 Mumbai police personnel in Rs 100-crore extortion case.

These police personnel were deployed for the security of Anil Deshmukh when he was the Home Minister of Maharashtra. The case also involves former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh who had accused Anil Deshmukh of asking dismissed assistant inspector Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore from hotels and bars in Mumbai every month.

No alliance with TMC for Goa polls: AAP

(PTI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said it will not have an alliance with the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the forthcoming Goa Assembly elections.

The AAP is determined to provide a fresh alternative to Goa with good candidates and form an honest and corruption- free government, the party's Goa desk in-charge Atishi said.

The Assembly polls in the coastal state are due early next year.

I say with full responsibility that there will be no alliance with TMC. So, there is no question of any talks with them. We are determined to give Goa a fresh alternative with good candidates and form a honest corruption free government, Atishi tweeted.

She was responding to a tweet by a West Bengal-based writer, who quoted a media report saying the AAP is looking to forge an alliance with the TMC in Goa and that the Mamata Banerjee-led party is yet to decide on the proposal, but the two sides have held a round of discussion on the issue.

The AAP has decided to contest the Goa Assembly elections on its own.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party contested the 2017 Goa Assembly polls, but did not win a single seat.

The TMC, which recently announced that it would contest all the 40 seats in the Goa Assembly, has tied-up with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, the oldest regional outfit in the coastal state.

In the 2017 Goa Assembly polls, the Congress had emerged as the single largest party by winning 17 seats, but failed to form government.

Later, the BJP forged an alliance with some regional outfits and independents to form government in the state.
