SC to hear plea of gangster Sanjeev Jeeva's wife to attend his last rites today
On June 9th, the Supreme Court is set to review a request made by the wife of the late Sanjeev Maheshwari Jeeva, a gangster who was killed, to be permitted to participate in his funeral.
Payal Maheshwari, the spouse of Sanjeev Jeeva, filed a plea to the Supreme Court on Thursday requesting temporary defense against detention in order to attend her deceased husband's funeral. She also expressed concern that her life might be in danger.
Payal has been alleged to have committed an offense under the Gangster Act, which prompted her to file a plea seeking temporary immunity from detention for 24 hours. This was so that she could accompany her children to her hometown in Muzaffarnagar and attend her husband's funeral.
The case will be reviewed on Friday, June 9th by Judges Aniruddha Bose and Rajesh Bindal in the Supreme Court.
