An earthquake of magnitude 3.2 on the Richter scale hit Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Wednesday, said the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at around 5:43 am.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:3.2, Occurred on 16-02-2022, 05:43:26 IST, Lat: 33.90 & Long: 75.23, Depth: 16 Km ,Location: 15km SSW of Pahalgam, Jammu, and Kashmir," the NCS tweeted. 

Delhi Government declared February 16 as a holiday in all the government offices in view of Guru Ravidas birthday. The official statement issued by the Delhi government reads, "The Lieutenant Governor of the national capital territory of Delhi is pleased to declare Wednesday, 16 February 2022 as a holiday in all government offices under the government of the national capital territory of Delhi on account of Sant guru Ravidas birthday."

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also informed about the same through his official Twitter account. He also poured his greeting on the occasion of Sant Guru Ravidas Jayanti.

The national capital on Tuesday reported 756 new Covid-19 cases. Earlier on Monday, it had reported 586 cases. Delhi also reported a 1.52 per cent positivity rate in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the city rose to 18,52,662, according to the Delhi Health Department bulletin. The total recoveries from the virus have gone up to 18,23,244 including 830 new recoveries.
The city reported five more deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 26,081. The case fatality rate is at 1.41 per cent. The city has 3,337 active COVID-19 cases.

Delhi recorded 766 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. During the same time, 5 people succumbed to the infection. The active caseload in the national capital stood at 3,197.

After over one and a half months, the Uttarakhand Government has lifted the night curfew from the state in view of declining cases of Covid-19 in the state. Gyms, shopping malls, cinema halls and salons have also been allowed to open at full capacity across the state, reports news agency ANI.

Breaking News Highlights: Assam CM Presents Highest State Civilian Award To Ratan Tata

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata with the highest state civilian award - Asom Baibhav on Wednesday, reports news agency ANI.

 

The Chairman Emeritus was not able to attend the official ceremony which was held at Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra, Guwahati on 24th January due to personal reasons, as reported by ANI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan are scheduled to hold a virtual summit on February 18, said the Ministry of External Affairs, reports news agnecy ANI. The two leaders will also discuss bilateral cooperation and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, the MEA said further.

Breaking News Highlights: Union Health Secretary Asks States, UTs To Amend Or End Additional Covid-19 Restrictions

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to all the States and Union Terrirtories across the country to review additional Covid-19 restrictions and to amend or end them in view of receeding number of Covid-19 cases in the country, reports ANI. 

 

"States/UTs must also continue monitoring the trajectory of cases and spread of infection on a daily basis. They may also the five-fold strategy of- Test- Track-Treat-Vaccination & adherence to Covid appropriate behavior," said the Union Health Secretary .
