Farmers In Bihar's Buxar Set Police Van On Fire, Vandalise Power Plant After 'Brutality'

The matter has been long standing since 2013 and the farmers have been demanding compensation in lieu of the land that was acquired for the power plant according to current prices.

New Delhi: Farmers in Bihar's Buxar district set fire to a police van and vandalised a power plant along with several other vehicles and resorted to arson after the police allegedly barged into their homes last night and thrashed them. The farmers have been protesting for compensation in lieu of the land that was acquired for establishing the Chausa Thermal Power Plant.

As per ABP News sources, the matter has been long standing since 2013 and the farmers have been demanding compensation according to current prices instead of the 2013 prices. The farmers are protesting for their demands for the last 68 days, they added.

The police is trying to control the situation, said Buxar Superintendent of Police, Manish Kumar.

"People have also vandalised the power plant. Police are trying to control the situation and will be controlled soon ," he said while speaking to news agency ANI.
