Beware Of Fraudsters! Railways Probe Fake Duo Fleecing Fare From Migrants

Bengaluru: In uncertain times when people are already reeling under the impact of Covid-19 outbreak, there are imposters who are trying to extract money from those traveling in trains run for migrants across the country raising alarm for passengers. In a case that has taken the Railways by surprise, the South Western Railway (SWR) zone has started a probe in a case in which a duo tried to demand money from migrants in a Shramik special train after impersonating as ticket examiners (TTE). First the persons need to be identified," said railway zone spokesperson to news agency IANS. The episode took place on Sunday in a special train packed with migrant labourers which departed from KSR Bengaluru station to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.  The duo had charged the passenger Rs 905 as fare to their destination. In fact the duo changed into uniform as of the TTE. In fact the duo tried to extract money in a few coaches but failed in their attempts. As soon as the matter came to light, the railway authorities checked the train and announced at stations enroute about the matter to the migrants on the train. The train was also halted at Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district where the railway police took the statement of the migrants. The railway zone is running daily Shramik special trains to multiple northern and eastern states and has already ferried more than 3 lakh people.
