Over 1,35,000 people have succumbed to Coronavirus in India ever since the breakout of the deadly disease in the country. This includes many well-known politicians and leaders such as former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, senior Congress Leaders Ahmed Patel, Tarun Gogoi and others. Ahmed Patel

The senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel who was under treatment for novel Coronavirus in the national capital, breathed his last on Wednesday November 25. A Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat and Treasurer of the Indian National Congress, Ahmed Patel had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus on October 1.
He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Medanta Hospital in Haryana's Gurugram on November 15 when he developed complications and his health worsened due to COVID-19. The 71 Year Old Patel was one of the closest aides of party president Sonia Gandhi and was her political adviser.
Pranab Mukherjee

Former President of India and stalwart of Indian politics, Pranab Mukherjee breathed his last on August 31 at Delhi's R&R Amy Hospital. The veteran politician known as "man of all seasons" underwent brain surgery after he reportedly slipped in the bathroom and developed a blood clot in the brain. Pranab Mukherjee was also found to be positive for novel Coronavirus infection on the day he underwent the operation.
Tarun Gogoi

Veteran Congress leader and three time former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi breathed his last on November 23. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 25 and had recovered, but soon developed post-Covid complications due to which he had been on ventilator. The 86 year old senior politician suffered multiple organ failures and unfortunately passed away leaving behind a huge void in the political corridors of Indian politics.
Suresh Angadi

Union Minister of State for Railways, Suresh Angadi passed away on September 23, almost two weeks after the 65-year old MP from Karnataka's Belagavi constituency had tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 infection. The minister was initially asymptomatic and had informed that "he was doing fine." Upon deteriorating health conditions, the BJP MP was shifted to a dedicated Covid-19 facility at the AIIMS Trauma Centre where he breathed his last.

Bharatiya Janata Party (Karnataka) leader and Member of Parliament's Rajya Sabha Ashok Gasti passed away on September 17 in Bengaluru after contracting the Covid-19. Gasti was elected to the Rajya Sabha in the elections held earlier in June. He had taken oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on July 22, 2020. He was the general secretary of the BJP's OBC Cell. He was the chairperson of the State Backward Class Development Corporation.
Pradeep Maharathy
Former Odisha minister and Biju Janata Dal legislator from Pipili constituency, Pradeep Maharathy passed away due to the novel Coronavirus infection on October 4. he 65-years-old veteran leader had tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 virus on September 14 and was undergoing treatment for the same at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

70-year-old Congress MP H Vasanthakumar lost the battle to the deadly Coronavirus at a private hospital in Chennai on August 28. The working president of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, Vasanthakumar had undergone treatment for COVID-19 pneumonia on August 10, but his health conditions worsened due to COVID-19 complications leading to his unfortunate death at the Chennai private hospital.
Sanjay Sharma
BJP leader and chairman of the party committee in Delhi, Sanjay Sharma died due to Covid-19 earlier this year on June 11. Sharma was involved in social work to provide relief to the needy in the city during the lockdown when he reportedly contracted Covid-19 infection and unfortunately succumbed to the disease.

Trinamool MLA in West Bengal assembly Tamonash Ghosh breathed his last on June 24 in Apollo Hospital where he was admitted after testing positive for Coronavirus. MLA from Falta Vidhan Sabha constituency since 2011, Ghosh suffered heart, kidney, liver and lung failure which lead to his untimely demise.
R Doraikannu
Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister R Doraikannu
Tamil Nadu Agricultural Minister R Doraikannu who was battling Covid 19 died in a private hospital in Chennai on November 1. The 72-year-old minister had tested positive on October 13 for the highly infectious disease and breathed his last on Saturday night. Doraikkannu was elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly from Papanasam in Thanjavur district in 2006, 2011, and 2016, with the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa inducting him in the cabinet in 2016.
