AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan's Business Partner Held After Rs 12 Lakh Cash, Gun Found In Raid
Following the arrest of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan on Friday, the Delhi Police Saturday arrested his close aide Hamid Ali after a raid by anti-corruption branch.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police has arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan’s close aide Hamid Ali after a raid by anti-corruption branch (ACB), reported news agency PTI. The ACB arrested Khan on Friday after conducting raids at four locations in connection with alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board recruitment.
Ali was arrested under the Arms Act by the Southeast District Police after unlicensed weapon, Rs 12 lakh in cash, and some cartridges were recovered during a raid at his residence.
The anti-corruption agency seized Rs 24 lakh in cash and two unlicensed weapons in all in raids at four locations.
The ACB had summoned Khan in a case pertaining to alleged financial misappropriation and other irregularities in the functioning of the Delhi Waqf Board, which Khan heads as its chairman.
In connection with the alleged wrongdoing in the board, an FIR has already been filed.
According to the ACB's Friday statement, Khan illegally recruited 32 people while serving as chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, in violation of all norms and government guidelines, and engaged in corruption and favouritism, as alleged in the FIR.
According to the statement, the then-CEO of the Delhi Waqf Board made a clear statement and issued a memorandum condemning the illegal recruitment. The ACB has filed two FIRs in the southeast district regarding the recovery of illegal weapons.
The ACB arrested Khan after discovering incriminating material and evidence against him during searches of the MLA's and his aides' homes at Batla House, Zakir Nagar, and Jamia Nagar in Delhi.
