2019 Honda Civic Diesel Fuel Economy: Claimed vs Real
The Honda Civic diesel has a claimed fuel economy of 26.8kmpl
After keeping us waiting for six years, Honda launched the new Civic in India on 7 March 2019. The Civic nameplate not only made a comeback after a long time but it was also the first time, the mid-size was available with both petrol and diesel engine options. Recently, we got our hands on the Civic diesel, which is available only with a 6-speed MT unlike the petrol variant, which is a CVT only offering. So, let’s see what we got to know about the diesel Civic in our real-world fuel economy test.
As expected, the real-world fuel economy of the Civic diesel is lower than what Honda claims. This is due to the fact that the claimed fuel economy figures stated by the carmakers are recorded in a controlled environment.
If your regular commute is in city conditions, then expect an average mileage of around 17kmpl. However, it could drop further in dense traffic conditions. But if your travel involves more highway stretches or a relatively clear route, the overall fuel efficiency should go up by about 2kmpl.
