2019 Bajaj Pulsar 150 Spied Again

Apart from a single-channel ABS unit and a new belly pan, the 2019 Pulsar 150 looks identical to the outgoing Twin Disc variant

In a bid to comply with upcoming safety norms that mandate all two-wheelers above 125cc to be equipped with ABS, Bajaj seems to be testing the next iteration the Pulsar 150, with the essential safety net. Going by the spy shots, the test mule looks like the Twin Disc edition of the popular sporty commuter bike. This version comes with the Pulsar 180’s chassis, including fatter 37mm front forks, split seats with split type grab rails and a disc brake on both ends. The bike was earlier spotted sans camouflage in September. 

Expect the new Pulsar 150 to sport a single-channel ABS. Another addition is the belly pan. Otherwise, the motorcycle appears to be the same as the current-gen Pulsar 150 Twin Disc. Even the semi-digital instrument  cluster appears to have the same blue backlight as the current-gen bike.

It is likely to be powered by the same 149.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 14PS at 8000rpm and 13.4Nm at 6000rpm. It works alongside a 5-speed transmission.  The telescopic front forks is complemented by twin Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear. Braking responsibility is handled by 260mm front and a 230mm rear disc.

Currently, only the Pulsar NS200 and RS200 have a single-channel ABS in Bajaj’s portfolio. The Pulsar NS200 ABS is priced at premium of around Rs 12,000 over the non-ABS version. However, since Bajaj will be updating multiple motorcycles with single-channel ABS, we expect the pricing to reduce accordingly. To give you a perspective, the premium for the Honda CB Hornet 160R ABS is around Rs 5,500 over the non-ABS version, and for the Suzuki Gixxer, it’s around Rs 6,300. Expect Bajaj to launch the 2019 Pulsar 150 in the first quarter of next year. When launched, it’ll rival be the Honda CB Unicorn, Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 and TVS Apache RTR 160 2V. The current-gen Pulsar 150 Twin Disc is priced at Rs 80,794 (ex-showroom Delhi).
