2018 Honda Amaze Vs Maruti Dzire: Variants Comparison

Honda Amaze E Vs Maruti Dzire L

Price Difference: The petrol and diesel versions of the Amaze’s entry-level E variant are Rs 4,000 and Rs 14,000 more expensive than the corresponding versions of the Dzire’s L variant.

The base variants of both sedans are strictly for those who’re on a budget and don’t want to spend more than the on-road price of the base-spec cars. In their base variants, both sedans come with basic features such dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard. Apart from these features, the Amaze gets all four power windows and rear parking sensors. The Dzire, on the other hand, is equipped with tilt-adjustable steering.

Since both power windows and parking sensors can be retrofitted, the Dzire’s tilt-adjustable steering gives it an edge. But that doesn’t discount the fact that power windows and rear parking sensors are crucial features and we expect every car above the entry-level hatchback segment to get these as standard.

Verdict: If there are more than one people driving the car, the Dzire seems to be the better choice as it offers adjustable driving positions. However, if you’re okay with the Amaze’s fixed driving position, then you should opt for the base-spec Amaze as it is better equipped than the Dzire.

Honda Amaze S vs Maruti Dzire V

Price Difference: The S variant petrol and diesel versions of the Amaze are Rs 6,000 and Rs 16,000 more expensive than the corresponding V variants of the Dzire. For variants with an automatic transmission, the Amaze, which is equipped with a CVT, is about Rs 50,000 more expensive than the Dzire, which gets a simpler AMT gearbox.

Common features (over the previous variants): The Amaze S and Dzire V variants get a basic music system with steering-mounted controls, all four power windows, central locking and keyless entry, height-adjustable driver’s seat and electrically-adjustable ORVMs.

Dzire V (extra features over Amaze S): Anti-theft system, day/night IRVM and rear AC vents

Amaze S (extra features over Dzire V): rear parking sensors and electrically-foldable ORVMs

Verdict: It’s a close call between the Dzire V and the Amaze S. We’d recommend the Amaze over the Dzire if you find yourself in the driver’s seat more often. The additional features it offers will help you while parking and navigating through congested city streets. However, if you’re chauffeur-driven, you are better with the Dzire as it gets rear AC vents.

In these variants, both the sedans are available with an option of an automatic transmission as well. Since Amaze S CVT is more expensive than the Dzire V AGS, if you’re not planning to extend your budget, you don’t have an option but to pick the Dzire. If you can extend your budget then consider comparing the Amaze S CVT with the Dzire Z AGS.

Honda Amaze S CVT vs Maruti Dzire Z AGS

Price Difference: Dzire is Rs 13,000 more expensive than the Amaze in both petrol and diesel versions. On the features front both the automatic cars are identical to their respective manual counter parts.

Common Features: rear parking sensors, basic music system, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, height adjustable driver seat and tilt steering.

Dzire Z (extra features over Amaze S): 15-inch alloys, automatic climate control, push-button start, anti-theft system, day/night IRVM and rear AC vents.

Amaze S features (over Dzire Z): The Amaze S doesn’t pack any goodies that the Dzire Z doesn’t.

Verdict: If you are someone who’d appreciate a smoother drive versus the gear shift head-nod that’s characteristic of the AMT/AGS transmission, then the Amaze should be your pick. On the other hand, the Dzire packs way more features and is a very attractive option over the Amaze with both petrol and diesel engines. Yes, the AMT is not as sophisticated an automatic transmission as the CVT but Maruti has managed to tune it so good that it now leaves very less room to complain.

2018 Honda Amaze Vs Maruti Dzire: Variants Comparison

Honda Amaze V vs Maruti Dzire Z

Price Difference: The petrol and diesel versions of the Amaze’s V variant are Rs 4,000 and Rs 14,000 more expensive than the corresponding versions of the Dzire’s Z variant. For variants with an automatic transmission, the Amaze is Rs 47,000 more expensive than the Dzire.

Common Features (over the previous variants): 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, push button start-stop, electrically-adjustable and foldable ORVMs, rear parking sensors and front fog lamps

Dzire Z features (over Amaze V): The Z variant of the Dzire doesn’t pack any more goodies than what Honda offers with the V variant of the Amaze

Amaze V extra features (over Dzire Z): Paddle shifters (with petrol CVT only)

Verdict: The Amaze V and the Dzire Z offer the same features. The price difference isn’t much either. If you’re judging either of these cars with regards to the features on offer, you can pick either of them without thinking twice!

2018 Honda Amaze Vs Maruti Dzire: Variants Comparison

Honda Amaze VX vs Maruti Dzire Z+

Price Difference: The petrol and diesel versions of the Dzire’s top-spec variant are Rs 38,000 and Rs 28,000 more expensive than the corresponding VX variants of the Amaze.

Common features (over the previous variants): Reverse parking camera and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Dzire Z+ (extra features over Amaze VX): Automatic LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs

Amaze VX extra features (over Dzire Z+): Cruise control

Verdict: We’d pick the Amaze VX over the Dzire Z+ any day. Although the Dzire gets extra features in the form of automatic LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs, we feel the premium of about Rs 40,000 for the extra features on offer is a bit too pricey. Unless you’re confined to driving at night on most occasions, that is. That’s because the LED headlamps provide a wider beam of light to aid visibility in the dark.

Amaze V CVT vs Dzire Z+ AGS

Price Difference: Dzire is Rs 43,000 more expensive than the Amaze in both petrol and diesel versions

On the features front both the automatic cars are identical to their respective manual counter parts.

Common Features (over previous automatic variants): automatic climate control, push-button start and 15-inch alloys

Dzire Z+ (extra features over Amaze V): 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse parking camera and automatic LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs

Amaze V features (over Dzire Z+): The Amaze V doesn’t pack any goodies that the Dzire Z+ doesn’t.

Verdict: The Amaze V CVT would be our choice here. It not only packs a better automatic transmission it about Rs 43,000 cheaper as well. And for that amount you can have all the features, that the Dzire+ gets over the Amaze V, fitted on the Amaze V from the aftermarket apart from the LED headlamps.
