Crazxy Review: A 93-Minute Edge-Of-The-Seat Thriller That Deserves Its Due On First Release, Not In Re-Release!

Crazxy review: Sohum Shah starrer is an outstanding example of how great writing, a brilliant lead actor, compelling music, and impeccable treatment can create magic.

Crazxy review: A film that runs for just 93 minutes, featuring a single actor on screen the entire time, yet keeps you glued to your seat without checking your phone, taking a break, or even blinking—such is the power of this cinematic masterpiece. Sohum Shah, previously recognised for ‘Tumbbad’, delivers a performance that will redefine his career. This film carries the same storytelling magic that Malayalam cinema is currently renowned for, leaving your mind in a whirl for its entire runtime.

Crazxy plot

A doctor urgently needs to arrange ₹5 crores for a crucial purpose. Suddenly, he receives a call informing him that his daughter has been kidnapped, and the kidnappers demand the exact amount. But is his daughter really kidnapped? The doctor has a strained relationship with her, stemming from his divorce. Why does he dislike his own daughter? If she is indeed kidnapped, who is behind it? Can he reach the kidnapper in time? The next 93 minutes unfold a tense and unpredictable series of events that will keep audiences at the edge of their seats.

How is Crazxy?

This film is an outstanding example of how great writing, a brilliant lead actor, compelling music, and impeccable treatment can create magic. From the very first scene, it grips you, refusing to let go until the end. The last 20-25 minutes are especially breathtaking, filled with moments so intense that you might find yourself closing your eyes in anticipation. Twist after twist unfolds, leaving you unable to predict the outcome. By the time the credits roll, the film not only overwhelms your senses but also leaves you emotionally stirred.

Director Girish Kohli, who has previously penned films like ‘Mom’, ‘Hit: The First Case’, and ‘Kesari’, has both written and directed this gripping drama. His writing is razor-sharp, proving why great screenwriting is the backbone of cinema. Knowing that the film revolves around a single character, he keeps the duration tight, ensuring that every moment serves a purpose. His approach sets an example for filmmakers on how to craft a compelling narrative without unnecessary elements.

Performance

Sohum Shah delivers a powerhouse performance, dominating every frame with sheer brilliance. Whether he’s showing raw emotions for his daughter, conversing with his ex-wife, negotiating with the kidnapper, interacting with his girlfriend, or instructing his junior doctors in surgery—he excels in every aspect. Holding the audience's attention for an entire hour and a half, without relying on action-packed sequences or a larger ensemble, is no easy feat, and Sohum does it effortlessly. After ‘Tumbbad’, this stands as another landmark performance in his career. Many actors could take a lesson from his masterful execution of the craft.

Music

The legendary Gulzar has penned the film’s lyrics, ensuring that even the end credits are worth watching. As the final moments play out, a soul-stirring song captivates the audience, making it impossible to leave the theater. The music, composed by Vishal Bhardwaj along with other talented musicians, blends seamlessly into the film. While thrillers typically don’t leave much room for songs, this one finds a perfect balance, integrating music in a way that enhances the overall experience.

Final Verdict

This is a must-watch film, best experienced in a theater. Don't wait for a re-release—catch it on the big screen while you can!
