World Environment Day 2022: Companies Implementing Eco-Friendly Packaging - Check Details Here

Eco-friendliness is an attempt to make the required changes in the system that have a lower environmental impact.

World Environment Day 2022: World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5 to encourage people to protect the environment. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the primary agency that is behind this celebration.

Every year tonnes of unrecyclable packaging are thrown away, resulting in huge amounts of waste. On World Environment Day 2022, let us take a look at companies who are trying to reinvent some of their products in a manner that can lead the way towards a better environment. These companies chose eco-friendly packaging to reduce the waste and the carbon footprint.

Here Are Four Companies Using Environmentally Friendly Packaging:

  • Heinz: Heinz is working to produce ketchup bottles made completely of wood pulp sourced sustainably. These unique bottles will be made of paper, will be renewable and recyclable, and would be made entirely of sustainable resources. These paper bottles are seen as an important step toward Kraft Heinz’s sustainability goals, which include achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
  • Coca-Cola: Coca-Cola is trying to change the way its bottles are made, by introducing bottles with attached caps. Coca-Cola emphasized encouraging the concept of recycling rather than completely eliminating plastic. Its objective is to lessen the amount of plastic waste that ends up in oceans and other places causing environmental pollution. Coca-Cola had also stated it has a responsibility to contribute to the solution of the world’s plastic problem and has announced its plans of using at least 50% recycled material in its packaging by 2030.
  • Trishula: Plastic cutlery is among the most commonly dumped types of plastic, almost always ending up in landfills or water bodies. Through edible spoons, Trishula has discovered a way of reducing plastic waste. These spoons are made with multigrain flour, natural flavours, salt, and water. With a shelf life of six months, these spoons are also available in eight unique flavours, like beetroot, mint, ajwain etc.
  • Wipak UK: Wipak UK introduces recyclable paper wraps made from butter, which reduces the carbon footprint by 68% as compared to other market-standard wraps. These butter paper wraps are aluminium-free and completely recyclable. After successfully passing the shelf-life tests, these wraps received an A+ rating in the recycling tests performed by the Bio-Composites Center at Bangor University.
