Both the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, a philosophical and spiritual guide, and the Natyashastra, an ancient treatise on performing arts, now constitute part of a rather exclusive list that caters to the more important cultural works of universal value. These are the pillars of India's intellectual, artistic, and spiritual heritage.

India has fourteen inscriptions in UNESCO's Memory of the World Register, which is itself an affirmation of the rich Indian culture unmatched anywhere in the world. With the naming of these two texts, Bhagavad Gita and Natyashastra, India becomes an even stronger flagbearer of knowledge and creativity.
UNESCO's Memory Of World Register:
Established in 1992, UNESCO's Memory of the World Register seeks to preserve and promote access to the world's significant documentary heritage. It includes significant works collectively recommended by the International Advisory Committee and endorsed by the Executive Board, ensuring that they meet rigorous selection criteria of world significance and exceptional value.
Some notable inscriptions of the Memory of the World Register include The Ramcharitmanas, Panchatantra, Sahṛdayāloka-Locana, The Magna Carta, The Diary of Anne Frank, and more.
