1. Valley Of Flowers:

With the mighty Himalayan ranges in the background, this breathtaking valley is situated at an altitude of around 14,000 feet. Spanning 87 sq km in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a core zone of Nanda Devi Biosphere and offers an ethereal spectacle. As the name suggests, the Valley of Flowers is home to over 600 species of blooms including orchids, poppies, primulas, marigolds, daisies, and anemones. This valley is a paradise for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers as its diverse flora and fauna offer a unique experience. This gem also houses rare wildlife and preserves the authenticity of the environment. Although the valley is only accessible from May to October, major tourists arrive during the monsoon (July-August) only.

2. Cherrapunji:

Cherrapunji, in Meghalaya, is a monsoon lover's paradise, with its root bridges and nature's wonders. Situated at an altitude of 1,484 meters, the monsoon transforms this place into a verdant wonderland with waterfalls cascading down lush hillsides. Although this whole town is fascinating in itself, if you are looking for notable spots, then the majestic Nohkalikai Falls, the double-decker living Root bridge, and the Mawsmai Cave should not be missed.

3. Araku Valley:

Araku Valley is a small, peaceful, and breathtaking hill station in the Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh. Home to several tribes, this valley is rich in biodiversity and becomes more enchanting during the monsoon. Stretching across 36 km, it features a scenic train route from Vishakhapatnam and is known for its coffee plantations. Rain showers cause waterfalls to spring up, making the lush green valley even more captivating.

Here you can explore the stunning Thatiguda, Katiki, and Chapparai cascades as well as the Tribal Habitat Museum. Araku Valley is ideal for rejuvenation, relaxation, and immersion in tribal culture while enjoying some of the best coffee.

4. Kodaikanal:

Justifying the meaning of its name 'gift of the forest' this place is surrounded by a huge lush green forest with wooded slopes and beautiful green meadows. Also known as 'Princess of Hill Stations' Kodaikanal is spread across the scenic Western Ghats at 7000 feet in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu. It was established by British bureaucrats in 1845 to escape city life.

This serene retreat becomes more enchanting in monsoon and is one of the most visited places in Tamil Nadu. Kodaikanal's stunning pine forests, Guna Caves, rare bird watching, and boat rides at Kodaikanal Lake, Berijum Lake will immerse you in the majestic beauty of blooming flora. In addition, you can also go for rare bird watching and Coaker’s Walk.

5. Mount Abu:

Nestled in the Aravali Range, Mount Abu is Rajasthan's only hill station. Located at an elevation of 1,220 meters, it is a popular monsoon retreat offering a refreshing escape. Known for its lush surroundings, panoramic views, and rich history, this place serves authentic Rajasthani vibes. While noting nature with breathtaking sunset and sunrise views, you can visit places like serene Nakki Lake, the intricate Dilwara Temples, and the historic Achalgarh Fort on your trip.

6. Coorg

Often referred to as the 'Scotland of India' Coorg (Kodagu) is a stunning hill station in Karnataka. Located at an altitude of around 1,152 meters, Coorg's beauty is accentuated during the monsoon season when the region is draped in a lush green canopy. It is one of the places that attracts many filmmakers. '7 Khoon Maaf', starring Priyanka Chopra, is one of the films shot here.
