South Africa fell short in their chase of 363 runs, managing only 312/9 despite a fighting century from David Miller (67-ball 100).
With this win, New Zealand have secured its place in the final, where they will take on India in the title showdown in Dubai on Sunday, March 9.
New Zealand sets record for highest total in Champions Trophy history
New Zealand delivered a record-breaking performance in the second semifinal of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against South Africa, setting the highest-ever total in the tournament's history.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, the Kiwis posted a massive 362/6, powered by centuries from Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra. Daryl Mitchell also played a crucial knock, while Glenn Phillips provided the finishing touch with an explosive innings.
Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson lead the charge
New Zealand started steadily before losing their first wicket at 48, with Will Young (21) falling to Lungi Ngidi. However, Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson built a formidable 164-run partnership for the second wicket. Ravindra reached his century before being dismissed for 108 off 101 balls by Kagiso Rabada.
Williamson continued to anchor the innings with a classy 102 off 94 balls, striking 10 fours and two sixes before Ngidi sent him back to the pavilion. Tom Latham (4) fell cheaply to Rabada, while Mitchell contributed a quickfire 49 off 37 balls before also falling to Ngidi.
Glenn Phillips provides late fireworks
In the final overs, Glenn Phillips played an explosive knock, smashing an unbeaten 49 off just 27 balls, including six fours and a six. Michael Bracewell chipped in with 16 runs, while Mitchell Santner remained not out on 2, ensuring New Zealand reached a record-setting 362/6.
For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi was the standout bowler with three wickets, while Kagiso Rabada claimed two, and Wiaan Mulder picked up one.
