Solar Eclipse 2020: Last 'Surya Grahan' Of The Year Today; Know If It Can Be Seen From India

The last solar eclipse of the year will be witnessed today. Know the timings and locations where it will be visible.

New Delhi:  The last solar eclipse of the year will be witnessed today. People in South American countries Chile and Argentina will be able to see a total eclipse which happens when the moon's alignment blocks the sun completely. People in southern parts of South America, south-west Africa and Antarctica will also be able to witness a partial solar eclipse. The eclipse will begin at 7:30 pm and will continue till 12:23 am according to Indian timings. Solar Eclipses hold religious significance in India as practices like astrology are associated with them ALSO READ: Good News For Stargazers! A Stunning Geminid Meteor Shower To Appear In The Sky Tonight; Know All About It Santiago (Chile), São Paulo (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Lima (Peru), Montevideo (Uruguay), and Asuncion (Paraguay) will be among some major cities to witness the partial solar eclipse. Will the eclipse be visible in India? The eclipse will not be visible from India as it will occur during the evening and it will already be dark here. The first solar eclipse of 2020 occurred on June 21.  The year's last solar eclipse will last for around five hours and as per the Indian standard time, it will start at 07:03 pm and end at 12:23 pm. According to reports the next total solar eclipse that may be visible from India will occur around March 2034. This year a total of four penumbral lunar eclipses were also witnessed.
