They are rich in proteins and carbohydrates. Vitamins, minerals, and fiber are also found in abundance in green peas. Green peas contain nutrients like iron, zinc, manganese, and copper, which work to protect the body from many diseases.

They have antioxidant properties which help boost your immunity. People generally like to consume green peas throughout the year. While some buy frozen peas, other people try various methods to store fresh peas properly. The season of fresh green peas starts in November and continues till March. How to Store Peas

  • First, peel the green peas and keep them in a vessel.
  • Now, separate the good, big peas to store them.
  • Always ensure that you buy fresh, soft, and high-quality green peas.
  • Rinse the peas twice using water and then drain and keep them aside.
  • Now, boil water in a vessel. Keep in mind that you take enough water to submerge the peas.
  • When the water starts boiling, add 2 teaspoons of sugar to it.
  • Put the peas in the boiling water.
  • Let them stay soaked in the water for 2 minutes.
  • After 2 minutes, turn off the gas, put the peas in a sieve, and drain the water
  • Next, take iced water or chilled water in another vessel.
  • Put the boiled peas in cold water.
  • When the peas cool down, drain all the excess water.
  • Spread the peas on a thick cloth for some time.
  • When the peas are completely dry, keep them in a ziplock bag or airtight container. Keep this bag or container in the freezer.
  • This way, the peas will stay green and you can use them throughout the year.
