Legend Of Holi
According to the legend, in ancient times there was an Asura king named Hiranyakashyap. He boasted and claimed to be God. Hiranyakashyap banned taking the name of God in the state. But Prahlad, the son of Hiranyakashyap, was a devotee of God. On the other hand, Hiranyakashyap's sister Holika was blessed with the gift of not being consumed in the fire. Once Hiranyakashyap ordered Holika to take Prahlad in her arms and sit in the fire. But Holika burnt when she sat in the fire and Prahlad survived. And since then Holika Dahan was done in the memory of Prahlad, the devotee of God.
