Devotees are always eager to have darshan of Baba Kedarnath, but only a few lucky people are able to reach Baba's door. However, the good news for the people of Kolkata is that Baba Kedarnath is coming right at the heart of city. Kedarnath temple is one of the sacred pilgrimage centre in Northern India, located on the bank of Mandakini river at an altitude of 3584 meters above sea level. Kedarnath temple is a part of Char Dham and Panch Kedar in Uttarakhand and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India.

Speaking to the media, Surendra Kr. Sharma, who is the General Secretary of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja said, "We came with the idea of constructing a replica of Kedarnath temple because of the fact that many of us have not visited Kedarnath and through this pandal they can have glimpse of the holy shrine and they can feel that they are doing darshan of one of the twelve jyotirlingas of Shiva. The outer look of the pandal is exactly how the Kedarnath temple looks. This year, 'Shiva is Shakti' will be shown in the form of Mother's idol. This idol of Mother Goddess is being made by famous craftsman Kush Bera of Midnapur. As per the theme, the lighting is from Chandannagar.”
