The 79-year-old politician tested positive after returning from Germany. Chandy was in Germany to receive specialized cancer care.

However, a controversy erupted over the medical treatment provided to Chandy. The Congress leader despite his poor health was also forced to speak on social media to dispel the rumours.

On Monday, Chandy's relative petitioned CM Pinarayi Vijayan and alleged that Oomeen Chandy was denied modern medical treatment by his wife and son. He was forced to take traditional medical treatment. Therefore, the state should intervene in the matter, said the petition.

However, Chandy's son Chandy Oommen took to social media and gave an explanation. The former CM also spoke on his son's social media page.

Meanwhile, former Defence Minister AK Antony visited Chandy. He also reportedly discussed about the political scenario in the state.

Oommen Chandy served as the Chief Minister of Kerala for two terms from 2004 to 2006 and from 2011 to 2016. He was also the Leader of the Opposition from 2006 to 2011. He is currently a Working Committee member of Congress.
