There Is No 'Operation Lotus', Not Disturbing Govt: Karnataka LoP Ashoka Responds To CM Siddaramaiah

'Operation Kamal' or 'Operation Lotus' is a word termed by Opposition parties for the alleged attempts of BJP to lure legislators from opposite parties to form their own government in a state.

Karnataka Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka denounced Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's claim of 'Operation Kamala' and BJP offering Rs 50 crore each to lure Congress MLAs to resign from their seat. The LoP said that there was no 'Operation Kamala' nor were they disturbing the government. Ashoka also alleged that Congress would lose the Parliamentary elections so they wanted to divert the issues.

On Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, LoP R. Ashoka says, "Congress will lose the Parliamentary elections. That is why, he wants to divert the issues. So, he is creating the 'Operation Kamal' issue. There is no 'Operation Kamal'. We are not disturbing this government. They are spoiling their own government. We have not made any offer to any Congress MLA. We will not do 'Operation Kamala'."

'Operation Kamal' or 'Operation Lotus' is a word used by Opposition parties to explain the alleged attempts of the BJP to lure legislators from opposite parties to form their own government in a state.

On Friday, CM Siddaramaiah alleged that BJP was offering Rs 50 crore to every ruling Congress MLA to resign in Karnataka. He also said that the defectors once they quit the party were also promised funds in the upcoming byelections as part of 'Operation Kamala'.

"Even today they are attempting it (Operation Kamala) in Karnataka, there are several examples; I don't want to speak about it now. Rs 50 crore was offered to our MLAs, asking them to resign. They are saying, take Rs 50 crore and resign, and we will also give money for your election expenses," the Chief Minister claimed.
