BJP Criticises 'Mismanagement' Of Congress Govt In Karnataka On Its First Anniversary

On the first anniversary of the Congress government in Karnataka, BJP criticised alleged mismanagement and law enforcement failures of the Congress-led government. However, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah highlighted the economic benefits of the guarantee and Deputy CM Shivakumar expressed the satisfaction of people with the government's performance. 

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told IANS, "Every family belonging to the economically weaker sections can save Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 because of the guarantee schemes. The upper middle class is also able to save Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000." 

Further, he expressed his vision of safeguarding Karnataka's interests in land, resources, and cultural identity aiming to establish the state as a model of global development and equality. Karnataka Deputy CM and state Congress President Shivakumar voiced his satisfaction with the government's achievements over the past year asserting that it has met the people's expectations.

In contrast, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka criticised the Congress party's one-year governance, alleging a complete breakdown in law and order particularly concerning women's safety. He further claimed a surge in debt and a lack of developmental progress.

Ashoka accused the ministers of incompetence and continuous errors. He claimed that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was aspiring to become the Chief Minister while CM Siddaramaiah was focused on retaining his position. Additionally, Ashoka alleged that factionalism based on caste and district divisions within the Congress has hindered the state's development.

Similarly, Karnataka BJP State President BY Vijayendra criticised the state government for depleting the treasury during the Lok Sabha election under the alleged guise of fulfilling promises. He said, "Emptying the state treasury for the Lok Sabha election under the pretext of fulfilling guarantees is the sole achievement of this government."

He claimed that various sections of society, including farmers, laborers, women, youth, industrialists, and backward classes, are disillusioned with the Congress government due to its lack of performance and governance failures.
