Karnataka: 50 People Hospitalized With Symptoms Of Diarrhoea After Having Food At Wedding Ceremony

The doctor said all the patients suffered from food-poisoning but are stable.

Chennai: Nearly 50 people who attended a wedding ceremony in Shivamogga of Karnataka fell ill and have been admitted to a district hospital in the region for treatment on Saturday. A wedding was held in Alada Halli village on Thursday and Friday and more than hundreds of people consumed the food during the event but of the total 50 people suffered from diarrhoea and were admitted to the hospital for treatment. 

According to a report on ANI, Dr Sridhar, Medical Superintendent at McGann District Hospital, said all the patients who were admitted to the hospital from Alada Halli village had symptoms of diarrhoea. 

Nearly hundreds of people had attended the wedding event on Thursday and Friday. However, fifty people in the lot started suffering from diarrhoea. Immediately, all of them were rushed to a McGann district hospital in Shivamogga on Saturday. The doctor said all the patients suffered from food poisoning but are stable. 

Meanwhile, Karnataka witnessed the worst food-poising incident that killed over 10 people including a 15-year-old child in Karnataka in December 2018. After the people consumed prasad (a holy food) provided at a temple in Chamarajanagar in Karnataka, most of them developed food poisoning. Nearly 72 were hospital and several of them were critical. 

The Chamarajanagar SP, programme officer and many more officials rushed to the spot to help the people.

Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy announced an aid of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased people and the state government took care of the medical expenses of those who required hospitalization. 

The police also arrested four people and suspected that poison was mixed with the prasad offered in the temple.
