BJP Will Fight Karnataka Assembly Elections Alone And Form Govt Next Year, Says Amit Shah

Slamming the Congress, the Union Home Minister said that for the grand old party, the path of gaining power is a way of corruption but for the BJP, it is by making people’s lives better.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest alone in the Karnataka Assembly elections and form the government in the southern state next year, news agency ANI reported.

“Those associated with Janata Dal (Secular) are spreading rumours that BJP will form an alliance with them. I want to clearly tell Karnataka that BJP will fight elections alone and also form government in the state,” ANI quoted Amit Shah as saying.

Slamming the Congress, the Union Home Minister said that for the grand old party, the path of gaining power is a way of corruption but for the BJP, it is by making people’s lives better.

“For Congress, gaining power is a way of doing corruption but for us, it is to make people's lives better. In the recent elections in 7 states, BJP won in 5 states and Congress was wiped out from 6 states,” Shah said.

It is to be noted that the Union Minister chaired a key meeting with booth level workers in Karnataka to discuss the required grassroots level preparations before the Assembly elections in the state that are to be held in May next year.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other party leaders, including state Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, BJP General Secretary and state in-charge Arun Singh, National General Secretary BL Santhosh, and National Secretary CT Ravi.

Meanwhile, Shah also approved the much-anticipated Karnataka government's cabinet expansion to accommodate disgruntled BJP MLAs, including KS Eshwarappa and Ramesh Jarkihjoli ahead of the run-up for the state polls.

The Minister also told the party members to ensure that BJP emerges "number one" in old Mysuru region.
