Dreaming Of Getting Back To Gym Post Lockdown? Don’t Do It Just Yet!
While many gymgoers are just waiting for the lockdown to end so that they can hit the gym, some experts say that going back to the same routine may not be an option.
New Delhi: For many people, the lockdown brought in a lot of disruption to a carefully crafted routine to go about the day and get everything done. One consistent feature for many was going to the gym, which due to the lockdown has been shut and off the daily routine.
While many gymgoers are just waiting for the lockdown to end so that they can hit the gym, some experts say that going back to the same routine may not be an option. While the lockdown is due to get lifted on May 3, the risk of the virus remains as it doesn’t have a cure or vaccine yet.
According to some reports, precautionary measures and social distancing must continue as the actual prevalence of the virus is still unknown.
Before it becomes safe to be out again, creating and keeping a home workout with or without equipment can still help you maintain your body goals. There are many apps and fitness gurus that can help with this process. Here's the list:
Nike Training Centre: An app designed by an athletic brand giant Nike, has different exercises and whether you have the equipment doesn’t matter because the app has specific routines for all kinds of users.
FITTR: It has a twice-a-day home-workout series. Every day, at 6 am and at 5.30 pm, coaches conduct live sessions on their Facebook page. It includes yoga, meditation, high-intensity workout, core workout, chair workout, bodyweight training, Tabata, shadow boxing, functional training, and circuit training.
cure.fit: It has made its online classes accessible for anyone through the app or website. The classes are designed in such a manner that they are safe for everyone. They have different versions of the same exercises depending on the flexibility and fitness level of the person.
BollyX: For the ones who have always hated the gym but are looking for newer alternatives, BollyX is a dance-based exercise regime conducted by Pooja Kapur on Zoom. It started with 22 students mostly whom she knew personally but now she teaches different people from around the world.
Yoga: While you’ll find endless videos to stream on YouTube Ira Trivedi takes special classes on Zoom which helps more as it’s like actually being in a class and it will give you a better grasp at the poses and movements.
Aside from just working out, your routine throughout the day matter. Nutritionist Pooja Makhija told PTI that being hydrated, keeping a check on caffeine consumption, planning mealtimes, keeping away from junk foods and not eating at one's desk is extremely crucial.
With the time you now have, you can put more effort into making a nice home-cooked meal which is nutritious and delicious!
