New Delhi: There is a massive jump in India's Covid-19 tally as the country reported fresh 2,47,417 cases on Wednesday. This is 27.06 percent higher than the number of fresh Covid-19 cases reported in the last tally. There are 5,488 confirmed cases of Omicron in India. Out of the total Omicron cases in India, 2,162 have been discharged.
Maharashtra continues to have the highest number of Omicron cases standing at 1367. The number of confirmed Omicron cases in Rajasthan is 792. Rajasthan has the second-highest number of Omicron cases in India and is followed by Delhi. As many as 549 Omicron cases have been recorded in the national capital so far.
The daily positivity rate currently stands at 13.11 percent, while the weekly positivity rate of Covid-19 currently stands at 10.8 percent. India's active caseload currently stands at 11,17,531.
As many as 84,825 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This brings the total number of recoveries in India to 3,47,15,361. India's current recovery rate is 95.59 percent.
As many as 54.61 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive so far. Also, 69.73 crore Covid-19 tests have been conducted so far.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to chief secretaries of all states and Union Territories asking them to take immediate measures to ensure optimal availability of medical oxygen at health facilities, ANI reported.
In his letter dated January 11, Bhushan has said that states and Union Territories should have a buffer stock of medical oxygen sufficient for at least 48 hours at health facilities providing in-patient care.
He has asked to ensure the proper functioning of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants and the availability of sufficient oxygen concentrators.
Meanwhile, Bharat Biotech, which developed COVAXIN, India's first indigenously developed Covid-19 vaccine, said Wednesday that the vaccine is capable of neutralising both Omicron and Delta variants of SARS-CoV-2.
