Delhi Logs 23 New COVID-19 Cases; Ghaziabad Reports 4 Infections Amid Heightened Surveillance

Delhi reported 23 new COVID-19 cases, prompting government advisories for hospital preparedness. Ghaziabad saw 4 new cases, leading to intensified surveillance and home isolation for most patients.

The national capital has recorded 23 new COVID-19 cases as the Delhi government issued an advisory urging all hospitals to prepare for sufficient availability of beds, oxygen, medicines, and vaccines. On Friday, Health Minister Pankaj Singh confirmed the cases reported till Thursday and said the government is currently verifying whether the patients are residents of Delhi or have a travel history outside the city.

“The Delhi government is fully prepared to deal with any situation. We have already coordinated with all medical superintendents, doctors, and their teams across hospitals in the capital,” Singh said in a statement, as per news agency PTI.

The government has placed hospitals and healthcare facilities on alert, mobilising all necessary resources to ensure a rapid response and effective care. The health department continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide timely updates to the public, Singh added. He also urged citizens to follow all health and safety guidelines and cooperate with authorities as required.

Earlier, the health department had issued an advisory to all Delhi government hospitals regarding COVID-19 preparedness.

4 Test COVID Positive In Ghaziabad's Trans-Hindon Area, Surveillance Intensified

Meanwhile, in Ghaziabad, four people have tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the district health department to intensify surveillance efforts, officials said on Friday. Of the four, three patients are currently in home isolation, while one is admitted to a private hospital.

According to a report by District Surveillance Officer Dr R K Gupta, all four cases were identified in the Trans-Hindon area. Among them is an 18-year-old woman who had experienced fever and cough since 18 May and was hospitalised. She tested positive during treatment at a private hospital, PTI reported.

An elderly couple residing in Vasundhara colony, who had recently returned from Bengaluru, also tested positive after developing symptoms of fever and cough. Both are recuperating at home, the report stated.

The fourth case involves a 37-year-old woman from Vaishali colony who similarly reported fever and cough before testing positive and going into home isolation.

Following these developments, the Ghaziabad health department has stepped up its surveillance across the district. Dr Gupta said, “A survey will be conducted to identify individuals who have been experiencing fever or related symptoms in the past week.”

Health officials continue to urge residents of both Delhi and Ghaziabad to remain vigilant, adhere to recommended precautions, and cooperate with authorities to prevent further spread of the virus.
